Random thoughts

This post is unique because I've never done anything like it before. It is a collection of random thoughts and notes over the past 5 years. There is no pattern, theme, flow from one to the next, or significance to the order. The only common thing is that they will make you think about your health, life, relationships, work, decisions, and all things that we should care about as humans.

  1. Your daily habits show up on your face after 10 years. When you're young, you can get away with treating your body and mind like crap. You can eat and drink too much, sleep too little, and not exercise enough. But you can't hide forever. 10 years later, your good (or bad) daily habits show up on your face. Remember this and act accordingly. 

  2.  In the end, it's not the years in your life that count, it's the life in your years. Do a few things that you'll be excited to tell your kids about. Go on an adventure, train for some wild event, and get your hands dirty on a crazy project. Create stories worth telling.

  3. Be present. You're probably constantly worrying about the next part of your life without realizing that you're right in the middle of what you used to look forward to.

  4. Lifting weights makes women huge. FALSE. Cupcakes and pumpkin spice lattes make women huge. Lift the damn weights.

  5. People want an A+ body but their report card looks like: Sleep D-. Nutrition C-. Training B. Hydration C. Stress Management D. Supplements A+. You need at least a passing grade in all of your classes to have the body you want.

  6. I knew if I failed I wouldn't regret it. I knew the one thing I might regret is not trying. There's no right time. There's just time and what you choose to do with it. Take the leap of faith.

  7. The world starts, ends, and is lived entirely inside your mind. No matter what changes externally, no matter how wealthy, pretty, famous, or successful you become, you won't enjoy any of it, if it is at the expense of your mind. Take care of your mental health.

  8. Vague goals leave room for excuses. Be specific with what you want and write it down.

  9. Fitness is a lifelong pursuit. Consistent exercise over the course of your life is paramount. Your body is your responsibility. Invest in it, make it a priority, and take your health seriously.

  10. The best energy drink is 3L of water. The best focus drug is 8 hours of sleep. The best anti-depressant is 45 min of exercise. It's not rocket science. Stick to the basics and you will noticeably feel better all around.

  11. Happiness is hard work. It's earned, not given. If you aren't tired when you go to bed and excited when you wake up, you need intensity and goals.

  12. Start acting like the person you want to become now. You don't need to wait to achieve something in order to change your behavior. Embody the traits of success, and you'll achieve it faster.

  13. People are not showing off. They are sharing happy moments and achievements unless you are viewing them from a jealous point of view. Fix yourself.

  14. Big wins tend to be accompanied by bigger decisions with more uncertainty and greater risk. If you want to play at a higher level, you need to be comfortable with greater swings of highs and lows. Mentally, emotionally, and financially. You can avoid the swings, but you might be forced to play at a lower level

  15. Whenever I find myself lacking gratitude, I try to shift back in time to remember just how amazed my younger self would be at all I have built. Most importantly, my younger self never could have imagined the relationships and love I am surrounded by. Practice gratitude.

  16. Never think twice about investments in yourself. Books, quality food, fitness, personal development etc. These investments pay dividends for a long time.
